Robots
Maverick has a thing for robots. It started with a robot of mine which was handed down to me from my dad. It’s a cool lookin’ old “bot” that no longer functions, but gets lots of play time with our little man. Here is a favorite Yo Gabba Gabba video Maverick loves to watch.

A Little Man of Few Words
Maverick’s ability to communicate with us is growing by leaps and bounds. Some words he says clearly like Mama, Daddy, Baba(that’s what he calls Evie), Gama (Grandma Carolyn), and Pa (his name for Grandpa Larry). He can let us know when he wants “up” and “down” through his words. He greets people with and adorable “hi” and bids a fond farewell with the cutest “bye-eee” I’ve ever heard. He can say “no”, and there seems to be a distinction between no, I don’t want something, which is a shake of his adorable head and no, don’t do/touch something which is the audible word. This week Maverick had his first real cold and as his little belly started to heave and he was about to throw up he softly repeated “no, no, no” in a sweetly pathetic little voice.
Equally amazing is how many words he understands. For example, yesterday Maverick was with me when I told Evie about the adventure we had earlier in the morning. I told her we went across the road to feed the horses. Maverick made a horse noise and then mimicked the chomping of the horse eating. Similarly, when I told Carolyn about our time at the park feeding squirrels he held his fingers up to his mouth and mimicked the way the squirrels took tiny, fast bites of food while twirling it in their hands. When we talk about things he will go and get them. When we talk about where things are he points them out or takes us by the hand to go to them. It is obvious that he understands the meaning of countless words long before he is able to pronounce them.
Here is Maverick sitting in tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. But don’t worry, it’s his beautiful sister Evie that he is smooching. He is holding out a flower for his Mama who snapped this pic. Whenever Maverick sees a flower he says Mama. He likes to pick a bloom, then bring it to his mommy. He makes an exaggerated sniff and then holds it to my nose. Thanks MAV!! I love you.
Maverick’s first Tricycle Ride!
Go Fast, Turn Left.
Maverick was having way too much fun cruising on this little red tricycle outside a Greek restaurant in Salem. Grandma Carolyn started talking with the sweet lady who owns the establishment and learned that her son, who is now forty years old used to ride that trike when he was Maverick’s age. Grandma worked her magic and ended up bringing the tricycle home for Maverick. He loves it! Check him out cruising for speed in this video captured by Daddy.
Maverick Goes BOOM!
Boom. Giggle. Boom.
I’ve often heard little one’s telling their parents that they “fall down go boom”, but little Maverick creates a boom of his own just for fun. Check him out in this video Daddy caught of him shutting the doors to make a big BOOM.
